Dr. Grace Zhang
Dr. Grace Zhang earned a doctorate degree in Neuroscience from University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio prior to dental school. She has published many research articles on top peer-reviewed journals including the most influential neuroscience journal Neuron. She was introduced to and became interested in dentistry through her research in signal pathways underlying excitability of neurons involving pain transduction and pain management.
After graduation from Rutgers School of Dental Medicine in New Jersey, Dr. Zhang returned home to practice dentistry with Dr. Kurt Mackie. She is attracted by the comprehensive restorative approaches Dr. Mackie offers to patients. She values education and attends the post-graduate continuum at L.D. Pankey Institute in Florida, while continuing to learn from Dr. Mackie every day. Dr. Zhang is committed to providing the highest standard of care to the community. She is passionate about using her knowledge and the latest technology to create beautiful and healthy smiles for our patients.
OUTSIDE OF THE OFFICE
When not practicing dentistry, Dr. Zhang enjoys spending time with the family and her 1 year old son Daniel. She also loves reading scientific articles to keep updated with the latest research and technology
For all the years Dr. Mackie has been practicing dentistry—and that’s now more than 31 years—Dolores has been a dental assistant in his practice. She assists him during all procedures, takes x-rays, impressions and photos, does all ordering for the office clinical supplies and helps with treatment planning and coordinating appointments.
Originally from Harlingen, TX, Dolores moved to San Antonio in July 2015. At work, she particularly enjoys meeting new people and the chance to learn more. “I never get tired of learning new things or helping people be happy with their smiles,” she says. Dolores and her husband, Martin, have been married for 19 years and have two sons and daughter. In her spare time, she enjoys crossword puzzles, movies, bicycling and travel.
Dr. Mackie’s dental hygienist, was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. She cheered at the University of Texas-San Antonio while completing her pre- requisite courses before transferring to Del Mar College where she received her dental hygiene degree. She has over ten years of experience in the dental field and has worked in general, pediatric, and orthodontic dentistry.
Excellent dental care and patient comfort are always her top priority. She is passionate about helping people improve their oral health and feeling confident in their smiles!
In her spare time, Katy stays busy with her husband Brian, and their two-year-old son, Gibson. They enjoy live music with friends, traveling, and of course college football.
Wendy Patient Concierge
Wendy has been in the dental industry for over 15 years! The majority of her experience has been in concierge dental practices and the model of care that is given. The relationships she builds with patients is the most important part of her job. “Care seems to be missing in modern Healthcare, my goal is to make sure everyone receives the best possible standard of care.” She is here to answer any questions or concerns that you may have.
Wendy is happily married for the last 28 years and moved to the great state of Texas in 2021! In her spare time Wendy enjoys spending time with her family which includes swimming in their pool with Tank , their white lab. Her son is a senior at San Antonio Christian and has aspirations to serve his country after college.
Sabrina Dental Assistant
Sabrina has been a dental assistant since 2007, always bringing a smile and a positive attitude to the dental office atmosphere.
Joining the team at Dr. Kurt Mackie Dentistry in May of 2023 she knew it would be a great opportunity and the next step in her career.
Outside of work Sabrina is a mother of twins who are Marine Corps veterans and enjoys spending her free time with her husband outdoors hiking, biking, kayaking, and most definitely fishing.
Crystal Dental Assistant
Crystal began her dental career 17 years ago as a registered dental assistant. As a mother of two she enjoys the precious moments of seeing the world through her children’s eyes as they grow together as a family with love and faith. Her current role combines with front office and clinical work as assisting. Patients appreciate her dental and compassionate chairside manner. Crystal is quick to make patients feel at ease by building confidence, trust and friendship with each patient. Her beautiful smile and understanding nature make it easy for patients to feel comfortable. She is extremely devoted to educating patients on their individual needs. Crystals love of dentistry really shines through with her delivery of comprehensive, compassionate care for all patients.
