Meet Our Boerne Dental Team
Experienced & compassionate
Dr. Grace Zhang
Dr. Grace Zhang earned a doctorate degree in Neuroscience from University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio prior to dental school. She has published many research articles on top peer-reviewed journals including the most influential neuroscience journal Neuron. She was introduced to and became interested in dentistry through her research in signal pathways underlying excitability of neurons involving pain transduction and pain management.
After graduation from Rutgers School of Dental Medicine in New Jersey, Dr. Zhang returned home to practice dentistry with Dr. Kurt Mackie. She is attracted by the comprehensive restorative approaches Dr. Mackie offers to patients. She values education and attends the post-graduate continuum at L.D. Pankey Institute in Florida, while continuing to learn from Dr. Mackie every day. Dr. Zhang is committed to providing the highest standard of care to the community. She is passionate about using her knowledge and the latest technology to create beautiful and healthy smiles for our patients.
OUTSIDE OF THE OFFICE
When not practicing dentistry, Dr. Zhang enjoys spending time with the family and her 1 year old son Daniel. She also loves reading scientific articles to keep updated with the latest research and technology
Frankee, the treatment coordinator, is probably the first person you will speak with when you call or come by the office. Patient care has always been very important to me so being of service and truly making a difference in someone’s life is why she has been in dentistry for 30+ years.
Frankee , originally from Edinburg, TX, moved to the area with her 16 year old son Boaz and 14 year old daughter Robbie about two years ago. Moving to Boerne has been such a great experience, truly a “life changer” she really enjoys the small town feeling and how genuinely kind people are here. She enjoys volunteering at her local church and being active outside allowing her to spend quality time with her children and their dog Zoe..
After working all aspects of dentistry and several dental practices over the years, she is beyond blessed to have found Dr Mackie and his office. “His dentistry alone speaks volumes, then add an amazing team and terrific patients… I’m honored to be part of this team!”
For all the years Dr. Mackie has been practicing dentistry—and that’s now more than 31 years—Dolores has been a dental assistant in his practice. She assists him during all procedures, takes x-rays, impressions and photos, does all ordering for the office clinical supplies and helps with treatment planning and coordinating appointments.
Originally from Harlingen, TX, Dolores moved to San Antonio in July 2015. At work, she particularly enjoys meeting new people and the chance to learn more. “I never get tired of learning new things or helping people be happy with their smiles,” she says. Dolores and her husband, Martin, have been married for 19 years and have two sons and daughter. In her spare time, she enjoys crossword puzzles, movies, bicycling and travel.
A dental assistant since September 1st, 2021, James was an intern at Dr. Mackie’s office prior to graduating from the San Antonio Dental Assistant program in August, 2021. Creating confidence in our patient’s and their smiles is always satisfying.
He was born in Massachusetts and moved to Boerne in 2010. “Transitioning to the dental field was the best decision I made since moving to Texas.” He enjoys spending time with his family, playing disc golf, and going on outdoor adventures with his son.
Dr. Mackie’s dental hygienist, was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. She cheered at the University of Texas-San Antonio while completing her pre- requisite courses before transferring to Del Mar College where she received her dental hygiene degree. She has over ten years of experience in the dental field and has worked in general, pediatric, and orthodontic dentistry.
Excellent dental care and patient comfort are always her top priority. She is passionate about helping people improve their oral health and feeling confident in their smiles!
In her spare time, Katy stays busy with her husband Brian, and their two-year-old son, Gibson. They enjoy live music with friends, traveling, and of course college football.
